Makeup Brush Cleaner

The life of your brushes depends on the care you give them, not to mention that your makeup application will be perfect every time with soft clean bristles to work with!

How often should I wash my makeup brushes?

At least once a month for kabuki, concealer and foundation brushes and every 2-3 months for all others. Frequent washing of natural hair brushes can break down the shaft and can also loosen the glue in the handle that holds the bristles together and keeps them in place. Therefore, when cleaning your brushes, concentrate your effort on the bristles, not the handle.

How should I clean my makeup brushes?
  • With brush facing down, run the bristles under warm water. Gently work Makeup Brush Cleaner into the bristles with finger tips. Massage in the direction of the hair.

  • Rinse the brush well. Repeat 3-4 times or however long it takes for the water to run clear. A final rinse in cool water will help prevent mold growth.

  • Carefully press out excess water from bristles and dab the brush dry with a soft, clean towel. Arrange the bristles back into their original shape.

  • Hang brush suspended upside down (with the hair tip facing down) to drip dry. This keeps water from collecting at the base of the bristles. Do not use a blow dryer (blow drying can damage bristles).

  • DO NOT SOAK brushes in the sink. Extended immersion in water will dissolve the glue that holds the bristles in place, causing shedding problems or even wobbly handles.

  • To avoid mildew from forming on your brushes, DO NOT WRAP BRUSHES IN or LAY THEM ON A TOWEL TO DRY.

  • DO NOT USE ALCOHOL. Alcohol will dry out the bristles and cause them to lose their softness and resiliance.
